What About School

Spring Break for Miami-Dade and Broward County is officially over! Although it may see like an extended Spring Break, class is back in session. Recently the Governor Ron DeSantis communicated that schools will not reopen before May 1st.

Teachers have taken the reigns to make distant learning an easy transition. There are a few things to bear in mind to make this process successful.

If your child/teen is in a M-DCPS you are strongly encouraged to visit Click on Distant Learning and Check out Instructional Continuity Plan (ICP) which provides information about what is specifically expected from everyone, including: students, teachers parents and families.

Need a Teacher?

Let's face it. School work is not what it use to be. If you are like me, some of the assignments that your kids may find common, may seem completely foreign to you. Need school work assistance?

Four Tips:

  1. Stay Calm. Panicking is not the solution. Know that help is available. Students were provided with a sheet where they got to write the best way to contact each of their teachers. In most cases, this information was provided since the school year began. If you do not have that information check the school site for the staff directory or send an email to your child's principal. That information is available on your the school information for MDCPS click here.
  2. Get Clarity. Once you have the teacher's email or means of contact, ask about the work your kids are responsible to do and explain your challenge with the assignment. You are not expected to become an expert in every subject. Simply use your resources and understand your role.
  3. Create a Sense of Structure
  4. Reach Out. If nothing else works, remember you are not alone. Give us a call or drop us a note and we will do our best to help or connect wit the right resources.
